There needs to be a better solution than "nuke it from orbit and hope it magically fixes itself. Got it to work again. Download ' Hotspot Shield '. Launch it. Make sure its Connected. Launch Warframe. It'll load the 6KB update. Then it goes straight to Play. Update successful. It just needed to load that 6KB. Close warframe. Disconnect Hotspot shield. Uninstall it. Launch warframe again. And because nothing else seems to work, and I'm not installing a VPN just for this, I've deleted the cache files.
I won't know until tomorrow though, because I'm now officially done using the Internet for the next seven or eight hours, until it finishes downloading basically the entire game. VPN works for me too. Enabled it to download the update. Then disabled it once update is completed. I install the game after a looong time. I played warframe for about 2 or 3 years ago and I decided to start playing again. It download the game without any problem with Steam but after I launch the game I got above error in the launcher.

Luckily I have one solution that gets the job done without re-downloading the whole game. I don't know why but VPN or proxy servers seems to get you unstuck on that 6kb file. I don't know if this will work for you guys also but it's worth a try. Well, the program is free and proven to be safe and secured. So don't hesitate to try it.
Update August 4, : Another update hits Warframe today and, experienced the same problem but luckily, Hotspot Shield was able to fix this. Best of luck guys! I hate dealing with routers and their inability to let WF work, and all of the routers I have dealt with all created different problems for WF. I agree it isn't great but they get absolutely pummelled and as with many support departments they just aren't big enough.
Many support departments are deliberately kept as small as they can get away with as management just view them as a cost drain and want to keep that drain as low as possible. You should not need to port forward at all unless your router doesn't have uPNP or uPNP is turned off as it should just sort itself out.
I know some ISPs actually alter people's connections to inject ads and the like the Phorm scandal was pretty big in the UK and I know that the support team for Elite Dangerous have encountered exactly this with some of they player base who had connection problems. Yeah I see what you are saying.
Many businesses shift this route. I don't like it but it is true. In my Intro to Management class in college they used this model as an example of how not to manage a business, though there are more factors involved as well. If a company does not have to go this route and does it is not good. I think companies in this situation should try different ways to cut back on the amount of support requests as possible, or find a way to go through them faster, or just hire more people.
Do something. Think up a solution collectively. Yeah the ISP may have been the problem. The router is more likely as I have always had router problems with Warframe ever since I started playing it until I port-forwarded and bypassed protection settings for the IP address used to port-forward.

Why do I even try to play this bugfest anymore? Getting this error on my other pc that has warframe through steam on it. No errors on a non-steam wf however. EDIT: It is also worth noting that the launcher does not even attempt to restart the update despite the text saying so. I've had problems with the PS4 version and now the PC with the same error and it seems that indeed as Gunglelot posted Cyberghost is NOW my friend also :. It seems that the updater does not like the ISP I use but with one quick install of Cyberghost the last stubborn 54kb was in the bank and the 'Play' button lit up Cyberghost is pointless; it claims that either a firewall or anti-virus is not allowing it to connect, yet I have both on allowed exceptions for this program.
