Utorrent part files to download

I have these files in folders where I've selected only some of the files in the torrent to be downloaded. What are these used for and why are they needed to be created? The partfile stores necessary data when doing selective downloading. Without it, several of the other files you don't want would be created and thus wasting more space.

If you delete the partfile, you'll screw it up. Since a piece can span more than one file, the parts of the piece that span into files you skipped are stored in the partfile. Please say yes, cause I have without actually checking the burned files! Files in a multi-file torrent don't begin on piece boundaries except by coincidence.
